February Tag for 12 Tags

Greetings!  February is drawing to a close and looking back, I guess I am kind of glad.  My stepfather had a heart attack and open heart surgery this month, my dear husband began a new and somewhat frightening chemo agent, my PC crashed, and the set up of my new PC was difficult to say the least!  However, that said, there is much for which to be grateful.  And so, without further ado, I am posting my tag for February for the Tim Hotlz 12 Tags of 2013 by the skin of my teeth.
Here is a photo of Tim's tag.  This is my first year trying Tim's challenge.  In January, I had a fair amount of the supplies that Tim worked with, which was good I guess as it gave me confidence.  For February, I had very little.  I decided to splurge and purchase several shades of red Distress Stain but otherwise, worked with what I had.  I used an image from Artistic Outpost for my focal image.  The black portion at the bottom of my tag was a piece of black card stock, embossed, torn, and sanded.  I enjoyed making the tissue tape ribbon tag topper as described by Tim.  Not sure about the distressing my tag with Distress Stain.  It doesn't look as nice as Tim's.  Perhaps it is the card stock I used.  It may not have absorbed as well as a manila tag.  In the end, I am rose to the challenge and so I am happy.  Thanks for dropping by.  Yvonne

I Heart You

Just got my new PC back, so fingers crossed!  I apologize for posting multiple times, but I am trying to not miss deadlines for projects I have already completed.  The project above is for the current Alpha Challenge of "H" over at The Craft Barn.  I chose the word "Heart" from my dictionary.  I stamped the beautiful heart by Crafty Individuals in the upper left corner, water colored it with Distress Markers, added a portion of an image by Gecko Galz and accented the heart with liquid pearls by Ranger.  The small scattering of hearts is by Studio G as is the alphabet stamp I used to spell the word heart on an Idea-ology sticker.  A puffy heart with ChitChat Stickers completes my page.  Thanks so much for dropping by.  Hugs, Yvonne

Dance, dance, dance!

Greetings! There's a new challenge over at Make My Monday.  This week, it's a color challenge of pink and black.  I began with a black card base, wrapped pink lace around the bottom, tore bits of card stock that sopped up distress inks from my craft mat from a previous project.  The focal image is a digital image from Gecko Galz.  The sentiment on a scrap of digital background paper, also from GG, is from Art Declassified. Finishing touches include Tissue Tape from Idea-ology, and vintage seam binding and buttons.  Hopefully, this will work, as I am doing this with a mobile device.  Thanks for dropping by. Yvonne

Bonjour!

Greetings! Trying to stay cheerful.  I picked up my new PC last Friday and quickly realized it was not set up properly.  It is back in the shop for the third time since Sunday! Working from a mobile device with no means of printing so work requiring Digis is currently at a standstill. Even attaching photos is hit and miss. They appear to display and then disappear by the time I try to link them up to a challenge site. This will all pass, but in the meantime I may have very spotty contributions.  My post today is for our newest challenge at Inkspirational.

The focal point of my card is a clip art image from Crafty Individuals.  The panel of paper is from Gecko Galz, as is the torn heart. The sentiment is from The Stampsmith. I hope you will check out the gorgeous designs from the rest of the Design Team and then wow us with your own creation.  Fingers crossed that this post works. Hugs, Yvonne

My Brother, My Friend

Greetings! It is time for another Word Wednesday at 365 Cards!  Our word this week is "Friends."  I began by searching for my focal image.  I decided on this clip art image of two brothers by Crafty Individuals.  Using a white card stock panel, I smooshed various distress inks onto my craft mat, spritzed with water and sopped up the inkiness in an effort to create a background that complimented the background of the focal image.  The edges were distressed with a tool and then Vintage Photo Distress Ink was blended around the edges. Various stamp images by Sam Poole inked with black StazOn Ink and applied to the background panel.  The focal image was matted with black paper and then a frayed burlap strip and mounted to the panel.   Black paper string by Idea-ology was wrapped around the prepared panel and the panel was then added to a black card blank. Finishing touches include some metal sprockets and kraft ChitChat Stickers Idea-ology and black Liquid Pearls.  We look forward to seeing how you create your own "Friend" themed project. This card is also for the current challenge of "Friendship" at Bloggers Challenge and the challenge of "Masculine" at Eclectic Ellapu. Thanks for stopping by.  Yvonne

Not in Kansas Any More

Greetings!  Well here I am using my new PC.  All is not perfect as they "forgot" to load all the photos used on my blog, so I'll be carting my PC back to the store again soon.  I am also learning to navigate Windows 8... enough said.  I am pleased to be able to share with you a post for the latest challenge at Fashionable Stamping Challenge where the theme is "Red, Black and Brown."  I must admit, my first thought was one of concern as I don't often use brown and black together in card making, but now that I have worked with the colors, I really like the combination. For my card, I worked with a beautiful plate of images from Stampsmith. The focal image was inked with Rich Cocoa Memento Ink and matted with red card stock and snippets of corrugated cardboard.  The background, white card stock, was stamped repeatedly with shoes in Black StazOn Ink.  Sentiments were added to the top and bottom of the card with Red StazOn Ink.  The background and focal image were distressed with Antique Linen and Vintage Photo Distress Ink to create a vintage appearance.  The panel was layered onto red glitter card stock and then onto a Kraft card base. A larger pair of shoes were stamped onto red glitter card stock, trimmed and mounted to the card front with foam dots.  Burlap string was wrapped around the card front and the card was finished off with black Liquid Pearls.  I hope you will stop over at FSC and see the gorgeous inspirational pieces my Design Team Sisters have created for you and I truly hope you will share your own project with us for a chance at a great prize.  Full details can be found at FSC.  Hope to see you then.  This post is also for the Photo Inspiration Challenge at The Stampsmith.  Take care.  Best wishes, Yvonne

A New Home

Hello! Well the weeks just keep flying by.  We are up to Challenge #8 over at Inspirational where the CASE challenge for this week is shown below.

I am admittedly new to CASE and feeling my way but it is great to stretch yourself in new directions.  For my card, I chose this adorable bird stamp by Studio G.  The sentiment is by A Muse Stamps.  Vintage buttons, a snippet of burlap string and a feather from my stash complete my card.  I hope will check out the gorgeous samples of my Design Team Sisters and then submit a piece of your own.  Please see Inkspirational for full details on submitting and prize offerings.  Take care, Yvonne

I Have Eyes Only For You

Greetings!  My post today is for a challenge at Try It On Tuesday called "It's All About the Eyes."  How we interpret it is up to us.  After looking through my stamp images, I decided to go in a completely different direction than I thought I might with this stamp I have had in my collection from Hero Arts for many years.  I decided to include the tree and fence behind the focal image, which are from Artistic Outpost. The sentiment was stamped with an alphabet set by Studio G, cut, distressed and added to the card front.  The background is a piece of white card stock that was distressed with various Distress Inks.  Milled Lavender Distress Ink was stenciled through sequin waste.  Tim Holtz Tissue Tape and a metal sentiment, by Idea-ology, complete my card.  Thanks for dropping by.

I Love You!

It's Word Wednesday at 365 Cards and this week the word is "Love."  I decided to make a collage-style card.  The Kraft card base was stamped with a heart stamp using Festive Berries Distress Ink.  A scrap of polka dotted paper distressed with more DI was added next and wrapped with red burlap string.  Images from Gecko Galz, a paper doily and red and white striped ribbon were layered next.  The sentiment is by Studio G.  A black crocheted lace bow and a button complete my card.  I am also submitting this card to Bloggers Challenge where the theme is "All You Need is Love" and to Frilly and Funkie where the theme is "Lacy Heartsy Challenge."  Thanks so much for stopping by.  Yvonne

Baby, You're A Star!

Hello!  Still Monday here, and that means a new challenge over at Make My Monday.  This week, our challenge is to create a project with a charm on it.  My previous post showcased some other images and sentiments from the Picture Star plate by Artistic Outpost. After going through my small stash of charms I came across this star and realized that some of the other images and sentiments in this same plate would work well with for this card too.  I began by grabbing four different Distress Inks Worn Lipstick, Mustard Seed, Milled Lavender, and Wild Honey from my stash and smooshing them onto my Craft Mat, spritzing with water and building up layers of color.  I stamped some images with Wild Honey onto the prepared background.  The focal images were stamped with Timber Brown StazOn Ink, trimmed water colored and added next.  The stars, also from the same plate, were stamped, trimmed and water colored with Distress Markers and scattered onto the card front.  The sentiment was stamped in Worn Lipstick DI.  Chrome liquid pearls were added to the corners to add a bit of sparkle.  Thanks for stopping by.  Best wishes, Yvonne

You Outta be in Pictures!

Hello!  It's Monday, and I am sharing a card I made for several challenges.  The first challenge is to create a "Girly" project at Eclectic Ellapu.  I immediately decided to ink up a recently purchased plate of stamps by Artistic Outpost called Picture Star that I purchased at The Funkie Junkie Boutique, and therefore am also submitting my card to Sunday Share at the Frilly and Funkie Challenge Blog.  The images and sentiment and words were stamped with Timber Brown StazOn Ink and the little girl was water colored with Spun Sugar and Tattered Rose Distress Markers. The card base and elements were distressed with Vintage Photo Distress Ink.  The beautiful flower was a thank you that Linda, owner of The Funkie Junkie Boutique, sent along with a recent order. I am also submitting my card to the February Referral Program at Artistic Outpost where the theme is "Anything Goes." Thanks for dropping by today.  I hope you have a wonderful week.  Yvonne

Star of Wonder

Hello, It's time for another challenge over at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown.  This week they are doing the February Color Challenge shown below.
For my creation, I chose to stamp this image by Stampington and Company with Mustard Seed Distress Ink.  Yellow lace was layered over a brown card base that was inked with Picket Fence Distress Stain through sequin waste.  Brown seam binding and buttons complete my card.  An unusual color combination for Christmas, I agree, but the Design Team at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown has some beautiful inspiration pieces.  Thanks for dropping by.  Yvonne

Fly, Bird Children, Fly

Hello!  Here we are again, with another new challenge over at Fashionable Stamping Challenge!  This time, our challenge is "Birds."  For my card, I decided to use the Bird Children by Invoke Arts as my focal point.  The background was done with Dylusions Spray Inks.  The word "fly" was spelled out with Idea-ology grunge board letters, which were stained with Metallic Pewter Distress Stain.  I hope you will drop over to FSC to see all the fabulous inspiration pieces the Design Team have created for your viewing pleasure.  We hope you will create a piece of your own to share with us for the chance at a possible prize.  I hope you are having a great weekend.  Best wishes, Yvonne

Happiness is a Journey

Greetings! Week six at Inkspirational and we are back with my favorite, the Color Challenge seen below.  I really like this color combination.  For my card, I started with a Kraft card base.  The plum butterflies were cut from designer paper I've had in my stash for years.  The sentiment is by Penny Black.  The die cut Tattered Floral uses Kraft paper too.  ChitChat stickers, lace, seam binding, buttons and liquid pearls complete my card.

I hope you will check out Inkpirational's site for stunning examples by the rest of the Design Team.  I cannot wait to see your take on the challenge!  Thanks for dropping by.  Hugs, Yvonne

E is for Egg!

Hello everyone!  Back with another Alphabet page for my book I am creating for the challenge over at The Craft Barn.  This week, the challenge is to create a project around the letter "E."  The word egg came to mind immediately, and so that is the word I tore out of my dictionary.  The letter "e" and the black and white photograph of eggs is also from the my dictionary.  The bird, eggs and chicken wire are from Stampington.  I used an alphabet set from Studio G to create the word "egg."  Thanks for stopping by.  Best wishes, Yvonne

Remember Me...

This post is for the current Make My Monday Challenge. This time around, we have a Literary Challenge based on inspiration from the cover of the Jane Austen Classic shown below.

For my card, I was inspired by the young lady, her hat, and the flowering trees.  I began with a beautiful flowered digital paper from Gecko Galz for the background.  The focal image is from Stampsmith. Vintage seam binding, buttons, lace and a paper doily seemed appropriate as finishing touches.  Thanks for stopping by.  Yvonne

Ever After!

Hello!  It has been a bit of crazy week with some family medical issues but I want to drop by tonight with a few posts.  This one is for the current challenge over at Simon Says Stamp and Show called Ever After.  I recently received a new set of stamps by Stampsmith with images and sentiments from The Wizard of Oz and thought they might work for the challenge.  I created grass, flowers and sky line with oil pastels.  The yellow brick road was embossed with a Tim Holtz embossing folder.  The images were stamped on glossy paper and partially tinted with Distress Markers, except for the shoes, which were colored with dark red glitter ink of a Sakura Pen.  Thanks for dropping by.  Best wishes, Yvonne

To the Moon!

Hello!  It's Wednesday, and time for another Word Wednesday Challenge at 365 Cards where the word this week is "Space!" Our sponsor this week is DRS Designs and my image and sentiment are part of their fabulous collection.  I added a bit of Ranger Stickles to the main image and the heart punches by Martha Stewart are punched from dark red glitter card stock.  A bit of turquoise ribbon and my grandson's Valentine is ready to go.  I hope you will join us for your own take on the word "Space."  Best wishes, Yvonne

Emerald Anniversary

Greetings!  I hope everyone had a good weekend.  We've had snow showers, and it is bitter cold, but it could always be worse.  I am sharing a card with you that I made this afternoon for the latest challenge at Electic Ellapu where the challenge is to create an Anniversary Card.  Madeleen is the host and she gave us a table of colors to use for specific anniversaries.  My card will be for my oldest daughter and her husband who will celebrate 20 years of bliss soon, which calls for Emerald Green and White.  I chose to layer a green mat to my card base and addded some geometric ribbon along the bottom.  The focal image is by Stampsmith.  The quote by Victor Hugo is by A Muse Stamps.  The scattered hearts were bits of leftover recycled paper in my stash that I punched with a Martha Stewart punch.  Thanks for dropping by.  Have a wonderful week ahead.  Best, Yvonne

Noel, Noel

It is hard to believe it is once again time for another challenge over at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown!  This week, for Challenge # 4, we are working from the sketch below.  My immediate thought went to blue and white, and my card above is the final result.  the snowflakes are from the Sleigh Ride plate by Artistic Outpost and were inked with a Chipped Sapphire Distress Marker.  The ribbon and bling are from my stash. There's still time to join the fun at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown if you want to get a jump start on your Christmas Cards for later this year!

C is for Circus

Greetings! I wasn't planning another post today, but I discovered a new to me challenge that is about to close and I really wanted to give it a whirl.  The challenge is offered by The Craft Barn and the challenge is called Alpha/Dictionary Challenge.  I missed the first week, but I plan to go back and create a piece any how so that I have a complete alphabet set at the end of 2013.  This week the challenge is to create a project around the letter "C."  You will want to check out the blog site for full details if you are interested.  I have always loved dictionaries and spent more hours than I care to admit as a child entertaining myself reading them.  As mentioned in a recent post, I rescued an old dictionary that was going to be thrown away at work before I retired.  With another recent post, I finally gathered up the courage to tear out a page.  So, to join in this challenge seemed like the next step.  I have decided to create an alphabet book that will be 6"x6" with a half inch edge to bind the pages together.  For this page, I chose some beautiful vintage inspired images from Oxford Impressions and colored them in with Distress Markers.  The red seam binding is merely for effect for the photo and will be replaced as I add pages to my book.  Thanks for dropping by and I hope you have a great evening.

Pretty as a Peacock

It's Friday and that means it is time for another challenge over at Bloggers Challenge.  This week, Lisa asks us to Create Your Own Background. I chose to spray white card stock with three shades of Dylusions Ink Sprays.  The edges were then distressed with Wild Honey DI.  The focal image by Gecko Galz was matted and layered over vintage sheet music.  The sentiment by Hero Arts was stamped on a scrap of sticky back canvas.  A metal charm by Idea-ology, vintage buttons, lace, seam binding and liquid pearls complete my card. I hope everyone has a great weekend.  Best wishes, Yvonne

P.S.  I had some trouble with my photo on my previous post.  I have hopefully corrected that if you would like to take another look!
