Jazz Age, Part Two

This is my second card using the musical instrument paper and embellishments. For this one, I chose Flapper Fashion images from Artistic Outpost. Isn't it amazing how basic elements can go either masculine or feminine with just a few changes? I love to receive comments. Please let me know you stopped by! Take care and thanks for stopping. Yvonne

Jazz Age, Part One

Every once in a while, I am inspired to go through the piles in my art studio that have been neglected for some time. Yesterday, I sorted through background paper scraps. I have stackable bins and sort all but the very smallest of scraps by color into the bins. As I was doing this task, I came across a sizable piece of paper with musical instruments. Tucked among the papers was a package of musical instrument-related metal charm embellishments. I immediately was inspired to make sevearal cards using some of the new Artistic Outpost stamps. This is the first one above using the some of the Gatsby images. Look for a more feminine version to follow. Thanks for stopping by. Have a great weekend. Yvonne

The Ornament of a House, Take Two

My second attempt at a thank you note using the Outpost images from Artistic Outpost. This time I sponged the background with Distressed Inks. Embellishments include vintage buttons tied with Baker's Twine. Thanks for stopping by. Yvonne

The Ornament of a House

Recently, while recovering from two total knee replacements, a number of my work colleagues have visited me at my home. They came bearing flowers, meals, cards and love. Although I have thanked each of them afterwards via email, I find in my heart that a handwritten note of appreciation is also warranted. As I looked through my stamp images to design my card, the images and sentiments on The Outpost plate by Artistic Outpost immediately spoke to me. We live in such an abundant country, but when I stop and think about it, giving up part of your lunch hour to stop by and encourage a colleague costs you very little, only your time, but it means so much to the one to whom you are ministering. Today, I am thankful for the love and support I received from my friends while recuperating. Thanks for stopping by. Come again, soon. Yvonne

Sublime Message

Hello! I decided to enter several challenges today. The first was for 365 Cards who is having a challenge today to make a card with a "sublime" message. Think hotdogs flickering in front of you at the movie theater and having to eat one at intermission. I chose a margarita for my sublime message. I purposefully kept all the other images by Inkadinkado on the card subdued in color so that the margarita by Studio G was front and center. I also used pop dots and matted the image on black paper to really make it pop. Any one thirsty? This was a challenge for me in that I did not quite know how to make the beach/ocean backdrop. I chose to tear various papers to create the sand, ocean and sky. I think it looks pretty good for my first attempt. Open to suggestions if you have any though.

I am also submitting my first card to the Simon Says Challenge, which today, in celebration of their 2nd anniversary is "Anything Goes." Congratulations to the folks over at Simon Says. Thanks for stopping by. I would love to hear your comments. Take care. Yvonne

Say it with Subtlety

The 365 Cards blog is on day 57 today. The challenge is to create a card that you could give to pretty much anyone you know (male/female, co-workers, family members, friends), so it cannot be too personal and it cannot be gender-specific. It must have a sentiment on it, and it cannot be a thank you note. Otherwise it can be of any theme. I started looking through my stamps and remembered that I had been wanting to go back to a plate of images by Artistic Outpost called Beyond the Sea and use some of the seashells in the set. I think this card could be sent to anyone for a number of occasions with the neutral color and theme. I don't know about you, but I am ready for some beach time! Thanks for stopping by. Yvonne

Bloggers' Challenge: Ribbon and Lace Challenge

This is my first attempt at the Bloggers' Challenge! I hope I can figure out the technical portion of it. I made this card for the challenge, and also for my sister-in-law's upcoming birthday. She is a cat lover, as you probably guessed, and loves the color purple. I stamped the main image by Studio 112 and the sentiment by Art Declassifed using Tim Holtz's Distressed Ink. I matted the stamped images with black paper and added a salvaged canceled postage stamp. I chose sheer lavendar ribbon and for my lace, I used my artistic license to make a lacey-effect with a border punch by Martha Stewart. I finished the card with some vintage baby buttons.

For my second card, I chose an image from Artistic Outpost, stamped it in sepia ink and finished the edges with deckle shears. I layered my image onto the card from with various background papers. There was just a hint of orange in the background papers so I tried to bring out the orange by adding a bit of orange ribbon to the brown seam binding (one of my favorite ribbons for a vintage feel). Though the photo corners, buttons and German Scrap are gold, I added liquid Poly Clay in copper to my card to continue an orange influence. I also added a piece of Maya pompom lace from Artistic Outpost Attic Findings as a finishing touch. Note: I accidentally got some water on the ink that I edged my card with. I liked the burnt look it gave to the card, so I added more water!

Vintage Fun

I recently received a package in the mail that came with these beautiful postage stamps. I immediately salvaged them for rebirth with my cardmaking. After stamping this lovely image by Artistic Outpost and picking the rust colored background paper, I thought of my salvaged stamps. I think the buttons, ribbon and stamps work well with the colorations of the card. I really am enjoying the sentiments in this set of stamp images that are taken from Dr. Seus. Thanks, as always, for stopping by. Yvonne

Roaring 20s!

Hello, again! Hope you had a lovely Easter weekend. Found a few minutes to try these new images from Artistic Outpost over the weekend. I think they are destined to be some of my favorites. Thanks for stopping by. Yvonne

The Bee's Knees!

I am so excited about these new stamp images from Artistic Outpost. So many of the sets can be used interchangeably with other sets. For this card, I chose the beautiful lady from the "Gatsby " set and the border and sentiment are from the "Flapper Fashions" set. With just a touch of color using Copic markers, my card is complete. Thanks for stopping by. Until next time, Yvonne.

The Lost Generation

I was very excited when Artistic Outpost recently released four new sets of stamp images, ordered them the first day they were available, but just did not have the energy to create following total knee surgery. Finally, I am starting to get beyond that! My husband's birthday is coming up. He is just a few years older than me, however, the images used in this card truly reflect his generation. Their love of fine wine, big band music, and the like are indeed lost on today's world. I hope he enjoys his card. Thanks for stopping by. Yvonne

Happy Easter, Granddaughter!

Similar to her brother's card, I am hoping my granddaughter enjoys her vintage style Easter card with the basket lid that lifts up to show a basket of peeps inside. I hope you and yours has a blessed Easter. Until next time. Yvonne

Happy Easter, Grandson

I just fell in love with these stamps from Stamp Francisco. They have moveable parts for a vintage look. I'm hoping my grandson enjoys pulling the bunny from the cracked Easter egg. Thanks for stopping by! Yvonne
